Professional Summary 

Stephen Zheng is a highly experienced litigator whose practice focuses on complex commercial and international litigation. From 1999 until 2003, Mr. Zheng was a Jinjiang District Court judge presiding over thousands of commercial cases, including numerous cases concerning interests of foreign corporations in China. Many of Judge Zheng's opinions were distinguished in Chinese case law and selected for publication in the Chinese Judiciary's Official Court Publication Case Book - A prestigious honor as most judicial opinions are not selected for publication in China.  
 
In 2003, Mr. Zheng left his position as judge, and moved to Australia to further expanded his knowledge over the interplay between Chinese and foreign law. He completed his postgraduate studies at the University of New South Wales, specializing in international law. In 2016, Mr. Zheng joined the firm of Duan & Duan where he continues to advise many multi-national clients regarding corporate matters in China.
 
Having lived a considerable amount of time abroad, Mr. Zheng holds a unique background uncommon to most Chinese attorneys. As a result on the basis of a clear understanding of western culture, Mr. Zheng provides western clients with competent representation in English, Mandarin Chinese, and the Fujian provincial dialect. 
 
Stephen Zheng has been one of the Top Thousand Foreign-related Lawyers awarded by the Ministry of Justice of the PRC. Also, he is a leading role in dealing with foreign-related legal affairs recognized by China National Lawyers Association. Stephen is currently an arbitrator of Quanzhou Arbitration Commission, a foreign-related legal advisor to the Bureau of Commerce of Quanzhou and a researcher in the Belt and Road Institute of China Democratic League.
